Penguin Covers
My entry for the Penguin Cover Design Award 2025.
The brief was to design “a new system for paperback books, encapsulating the spirit of Penguin’s founding design principles.” A design that works across books of multiple genres and time periods.
I chose to go with a style that really harkens back to the classic penguin books, sticking with the established colours for different genres, with updated font and layouts.
It features a semi-circular design that when front cover is placed next to the back cover of another, creates a full circle pattern.
The author's signature is featured at the bottom of each cover to easily differentiate books by writer, and add a touch of individuality.
